Insurance in the Texas Panhandle & Plains
For a home, farm or ranch in the Panhandle and South Plains, an annual review is a chance to catch what changed on the property. Around Amarillo, Lubbock and surrounding communities, begin with the buildings and equipment you own today. A new implement, a leased machine or a converted shed can make last year’s list incomplete.

Questions worth asking before you choose
Reconcile the list with what is there now
Walk through the property with the current policy’s building and equipment list. Mark purchases, sales, replacements and changes of use, and identify owned, leased and borrowed items. Ask how values are established for each proposed coverage. Include attached equipment and improvements that may be easy to miss when a renewal repeats an old description. Keep photos and records with the updated list.
Convert the home deductible to dollars
For the residence, check whether the wind or hail deductible is a dollar amount or a percentage, and ask what insured value that percentage uses. For illustration, 2% of a $300,000 insured value is $6,000. Use your own policy figures when comparing the amount you would need to pay. Review the roof’s settlement terms as a separate question.
Describe the busiest part of the year
Explain when rented machines arrive, whether equipment moves between locations and whether you perform paid work for others. Bring the agreements rather than assuming the owner’s policy addresses your use. If buildings or machines support a separate business, identify that business too. A seasonal timeline helps the agent review the operation before the equipment is delivered or the work begins.
