Insurance in Central Texas
A home, workshop and family business can share an address while creating different insurance questions. From Central Texas communities to the Brazos Valley, start with who owns each part of the property and how it is used. Bring the household, farm and business policies that may need to be reviewed together.

Questions worth asking before you choose
Start with the agreements
A leased workshop, shared driveway or home office can involve more than one person’s responsibilities. Gather the agreements and identify who occupies each space, who pays for repairs and whether customers or employees visit. Home insurance may not adequately address business equipment or business-related injuries. Ask your agent to review these arrangements alongside the policies, before relying on a verbal understanding.
Make ownership and responsibility clear
Write down who owns the house, land, equipment and business. If a family member or tenant uses part of the property, bring the agreement and explain who maintains the buildings. Ask which names and locations should appear on the proposed policies. Do this before assuming that a policy issued to one person or business addresses everyone’s responsibilities.
Review one change across all the policies
Adding a shop, starting paid work or leasing pasture may raise several questions at once. Bring the relevant policies to the same conversation, even if their renewal dates differ. Identify the change and when it starts, then ask the agent to explain any proposed updates and confirm what is in place. A quote request by itself does not change an existing policy.
